Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd, which operates Pipavav Port in Gujarat, reported a 42 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹148 crore for the first quarter of FY27, supported by strong growth in its Ro-Ro and container businesses.

Revenue from operations rose 33 per cent year-on-year to ₹332 crore during the April-June quarter.

Container throughput remained broadly stable at 168,000 TEUs, up 2.4 per cent from 164,000 TEUs in Q1 FY26. The company said container volumes benefited from additional transhipment cargo amid the Middle East conflict, while bulk cargo was affected by lower mineral imports.

The port’s Ro-Ro volumes surged 54.8 per cent to 65,000 units, compared with 42,000 units a year earlier, driven by higher exports from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

However, dry bulk cargo declined 5.5 per cent to 0.52 million tonnes, while liquid cargo fell sharply by 46.3 per cent to 0.22 million tonnes, mainly due to lower LPG and fuel oil imports.

Rail-linked container movement also declined. The port handled 346 container trains, down 22.6 per cent from 447 trains in Q1 FY26, while containers moved by rail fell 11.1 per cent to 88,000 TEUs.

Excluding the impact of duty-benefit scrips, revenue increased 20 per cent year-on-year. EBITDA rose 25 per cent and EBIT increased 31 per cent. The company’s EBITDA margin improved to 61 per cent, up 200 basis points from the year-ago quarter.

Shares of Gujarat Pipavav Port closed 1.01 per cent higher at ₹149.75 on the BSE on Wednesday.
