Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) chairman Dr. Angamuthu said the port would develop a Maritime Heritage Complex (MHC) on its premises. Suggestions and ideas from all the stakeholders would be considered. The MHC will be open to the public. It will have digital library, archives, cafeteria, and good ambience for research works.
Announcing it during the port’s 90th formation day celebrations at the port guest house here on Saturday, the chairman said the MHC will house heritage items including photos, and antique items which depict the port’s journey through 90 years. The MHC will also have a port waterfront area and walkway from the newly developed Vizag International Cruise Terminal to the temple on Ross Hill, enabling the public to view the ship movements and port activities.
The chairman said the port will be tying up with the Skill Development Council to upgrade the skills of the employees.
He added the port has prepared Maritime India Vision 2030 and Vision 2047 which will be discussed with the stakeholders to incorporate their suggestions.
