The Port of Osaka’s Yumeshima Container Terminal has been awarded carbon neutral port (CNP) certification by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) for berths C10, C11 and C12.

Kobe-Osaka International Port Corp. participated in the certification ceremony alongside Dream Island Container Terminal (DICT), Evergreen Shipping Agency (Japan), Osaka Port Corp. and the city of Osaka.

The certification is part of Japan’s broader target to eliminate GHG emissions by 2025.

Under this initiative, MLIT is encouraging ports to enhance their operations with  decarbonisation measures and to develop facilities capable of handling hydrogen, ammonia  and other green fuels.

The C10, C11 and C12 berths received a 2++ grade, marking the second CNP certification awarded to Hanshin Ports.

In April, Mitsubishi Logisnext Co., Ltd., a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, delivered a new advanced-function container terminal gate to Dream Island Container Terminal Co., Ltd.
