The government on Wednesday announced a ban on imports of roasted Areca nuts priced below Rs 351 per Kg.

“The import of roasted Areca nut, having CIF value less than Rs 351 per Kg is prohibited,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

However, the ban is not applicable to imports by 100 per cent export-oriented units (EOUs) in SEZ and imports under the Advance Authorisation Scheme.
