Export consignments destined for the United Kingdom were ceremonially flagged off from ICD Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad, marking the commencement of exports from the region under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) following its entry into force.
The flag-off ceremony witnessed the presence of Dr. Samath Kumar, Additional Director General, DGFT Hyderabad; Ms. Bhavani Sri, Secretary, National Turmeric Board; Shri R. P. Naidu, AGM, APEDA Hyderabad; representatives from the British High Commission; and senior stakeholders from the trade, customs, and logistics sectors.
The event symbolized a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral trade between India and the United Kingdom and underscored the readiness of Hyderabad’s export ecosystem to leverage the opportunities created under the landmark trade agreement.
Officials highlighted that the India–UK CETA is expected to provide enhanced market access, reduced trade barriers, and greater competitiveness for Indian exporters across a wide range of sectors. The agreement is also anticipated to boost exports from Telangana and neighbouring regions by enabling faster and more efficient trade with the UK.
The ceremony showcased the coordinated efforts of government agencies, export promotion bodies, customs authorities, and logistics partners in ensuring seamless cargo movement under the new trade framework. It also reaffirmed India’s commitment to expanding global trade partnerships through improved trade facilitation and efficient multimodal logistics infrastructure.
With export operations now underway from ICD Sanath Nagar under the India–UK CETA, stakeholders expressed confidence that the agreement will open new growth avenues for Indian exporters while further strengthening economic and commercial ties between India and the United Kingdom.
