The Indian Consul General paid an official visit to Glasgow Prestwick Airport to review the airport’s upgraded cold-chain infrastructure and explore opportunities to strengthen air cargo ties between Scotland and India.
During the visit, airport officials showcased recent investments in temperature-controlled storage, handling systems, and monitoring technologies designed to support pharmaceuticals, perishables, and other sensitive cargo. The enhancements are aimed at positioning Prestwick as a competitive hub for high-value, time-critical freight.
Airport representatives highlighted the facility’s ability to maintain strict temperature integrity throughout the cargo journey, supported by dedicated cool rooms, real-time tracking, and compliance with international handling standards. The upgrades are expected to support growing demand for pharma logistics and agri-exports on UK–India trade lanes.
The Consul General engaged with airport leadership and cargo operators to discuss potential collaboration in sectors such as life sciences, seafood exports, and specialist manufacturing.
