Indian Railways has introduced a new Machilipatnam–Kurnool Express service while approving rail infrastructure projects worth ₹345 crore, aimed at improving passenger connectivity and strengthening the railway network in Andhra Pradesh.
The new express service will provide a direct rail connection between Machilipatnam and Kurnool, improving travel options for passengers across the region. The service is expected to benefit commuters, students, businesses and other travellers by providing an additional long-distance rail option.
Alongside the new train service, the approval of ₹345 crore worth of railway projects is expected to support infrastructure development and improve operational efficiency. The projects will cover upgrades and other works aimed at strengthening railway facilities and connectivity.
The initiatives form part of ongoing efforts to modernise railway infrastructure and expand passenger services. Improved connectivity can also support regional economic activity by making travel between important commercial and urban centres more convenient.
The Machilipatnam–Kurnool service will strengthen rail links across Andhra Pradesh and provide passengers with another option for travelling between the coastal and inland parts of the state.
