    India’s Exports Grow 5.79% to $790.86 Billion in April-February FY26

    India’s total exports of merchandise and services rose 5.79 per cent year-on-year to $790.86 billion during April-February FY26, supported by strong growth in services exports and steady performance across key manufacturing sectors, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

    Merchandise exports during the period stood at $402.93 billion, up 1.84 per cent from $395.66 billion in the corresponding period last year. Non-petroleum exports increased 5.03 per cent to $354.12 billion.

    Services exports continued to drive overall trade growth, rising to $387.93 billion during April-February FY26 from $351.93 billion a year earlier. The services trade surplus expanded to $200.96 billion compared with $170.69 billion in the previous year.

    In February 2026 alone, India’s total exports were estimated at $76.13 billion, registering an 11.05 per cent increase over February 2025, while imports rose 21.64 per cent year-on-year to $80.09 billion.

    Engineering goods, electronic goods, chemicals, gems and jewellery, and agri-based products were among the major contributors to export growth during the month. Engineering goods exports rose 12.9 per cent to $10.36 billion, while electronic goods exports increased 10.37 per cent to $4.18 billion.

    Exports of meat, dairy and poultry products recorded strong growth of 22.66 per cent, while sectors such as marine products, pharmaceuticals, rice, fruits and vegetables, handicrafts and coffee also posted positive growth.

    India’s merchandise imports during April-February FY26 rose to $713.53 billion, resulting in a merchandise trade deficit of $310.60 billion, compared with $261.80 billion in the same period of FY25.

    Key export destinations showing significant growth included China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Togo and Sri Lanka, while imports saw higher growth from China, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Peru.
