India’s defence exports are set to reach ₹29,000 crore, driven largely by the country’s expanding naval manufacturing capabilities. Officials say the push for indigenous shipbuilding and modernisation of naval assets is positioning India as a growing exporter of defence equipment.

The government has been actively promoting self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, encouraging domestic shipyards and defence manufacturers to design and produce advanced naval vessels for both domestic and international markets. Analysts note that India’s shipbuilding industry has emerged as a key contributor to the country’s defence export ambitions, supplying patrol vessels, frigates, and support ships to friendly nations.

Defence officials highlighted that improved technological capabilities, streamlined export procedures, and government-backed incentives have enabled private and public shipyards to secure international contracts. These developments not only strengthen India’s maritime security but also help create high-value jobs and promote indigenous defence innovation.

Industry experts expect India’s naval manufacturing sector to continue driving defence export growth, cementing the country’s reputation as a reliable supplier in global defence markets.
