Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) and Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd (SFCL) have entered into a partnership to jointly fund the Outer Harbour project at V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port in Tamil Nadu. The collaboration aims to mobilise long-term financing for the port’s capacity expansion and infrastructure development.

The Outer Harbour project is expected to enhance the port’s ability to handle larger vessels, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen multimodal connectivity. Officials said the funding tie-up aligns with the government’s Sagarmala programme and broader efforts to boost port-led development, logistics efficiency, and trade competitiveness.
