Mr Israr Ahmed has taken over as the Officiating President of FIEO. With his
experience as a promoter of Farida Group and his background in the leather industry, Mr Ahmed brings dynamism and innovation to the role. He has previously served in various trade and industry associations, including the Council of Leather Exports and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. Trade and industry are confident that Mr Ahmed will continue the important work of his predecessor and address the concerns of Indian exporters while improving the overall export ecosystem.

Dr. A Sakthivel has successfully completed his tenure as the President of FIEO. Taking on this role, during a challenging time for the global trade industry, Dr Sakthivel made a commitment to elevate India’s exports to USD 400 billion in the fiscal year 2021-22.

He focused on export promotion, overseas marketing, and establishing better market access through free trade agreements (FTAs). Dr Sakthivel also emphasized the need for diversification by exploring new products and markets. He worked closely with the government and promoted Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen India’s export industry. Despite the headwinds faced globally, Dr Sakthivel remained confident and accurately predicted that India’s goods and services exports would reach USD 777 billion in 2022-23.
