Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), the Transport & Ports Department of the Government of Maharashtra and Maharashtra Institute for Transformation (MITRA) convened an industry stakeholders’ meeting to explore opportunities to accelerate the adoption of electric freight mobility across JNPA-linked corridors and port operations.

JNPA Chairperson Gaurav Dayal, IAS, chaired the meeting, along with Aman Mittal, IAS, Joint CEO, MITRA. The roundtable brought together representatives from terminal operators, shipping lines, transporter associations, freight forwarders, Container Freight Stations (CFSs), Customs House Agents (CHAs), EV service providers and other stakeholders.

Discussions focused on the operational and commercial requirements for electrifying freight movement, along with the infrastructure, deployment and coordination needed to support the transition. Stakeholders also discussed the role of government–industry collaboration in developing practical and scalable solutions for electric freight mobility.

The initiative marks another step towards advancing sustainable port-linked logistics and developing a coordinated, commercially viable and scalable framework for electric freight mobility across Maharashtra.
