JSW Group, one of India’s leading industrial conglomerates, is planning to invest up to ₹50,000 crore in West Bengal across the power, ports and cement sectors, signalling a major expansion of its industrial footprint in the state.

As part of the proposed investments, the group is planning to establish a second 1,600 MW thermal power unit at Salboni in West Midnapore district. The proposed expansion will further strengthen JSW’s presence in West Bengal’s power generation sector.

Meanwhile, JSW Infrastructure is investing ₹1,500 crore towards modernising Kolkata’s dock facilities and port operations. The investment is expected to enhance infrastructure, improve operational efficiency and strengthen the port’s cargo-handling capabilities.

JSW Group has maintained a longstanding investment presence in West Bengal, where it already operates a cement plant and a steel unit. The conglomerate is also in the process of developing a power plant at Salboni, where it owns more than 3,800 acres of unencumbered land, providing significant scope for future industrial expansion.

The proposed investments across power generation, port infrastructure and cement manufacturing are expected to further strengthen West Bengal’s industrial and logistics ecosystem, while creating opportunities for employment, infrastructure development and economic growth.

JSW’s proposed investment programme also highlights the growing importance of integrated industrial development supported by reliable power supply, modern port infrastructure and efficient logistics connectivity.
