Cochin International Airport has arranged a special cargo flight to Abu Dhabi to facilitate the urgent movement of goods from Kerala amid growing demand for air freight connectivity to the Gulf region.

Airport authorities said the dedicated cargo service was organized to support exporters and logistics providers facing disruptions and limited space on regular passenger and freighter services. The special lift is expected to move a range of time-sensitive shipments, including perishables, food products, and other high-value cargo destined for markets in the United Arab Emirates.

Officials noted that the initiative is aimed at ensuring continuity in trade flows between Kerala and Gulf countries, a corridor that handles significant volumes of seafood, agricultural produce, and other export commodities. The airport’s cargo terminal has made special handling arrangements to process the consignments efficiently and ensure timely departure.

The move also reflects the strong cargo demand between southern India and Gulf destinations, where large expatriate communities and robust trade ties continue to drive freight movement. Industry stakeholders believe such dedicated cargo operations could help exporters maintain supply chains during periods of operational disruption or capacity constraints in the aviation sector.
