The hydrocarbon business of Indian engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has received a letter of intent for a mega offshore order from an undisclosed client in the Middle East.

The scope of work comprises engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of a new large offshore platform and brownfield work of integration with existing facilities.

The company did not provide any precise financial details or the name of the client. It is known that a mega order for L&T is between Rs 10,000-15,000 crore ($1.2bn-$1.8bn) and the Indian firm did describe the client as “prestigious.”

“This mega order from a new customer reaffirms global acknowledgement of our capabilities and marks a key milestone for our offshore business,” Subramanian Sarma, whole-time director and senior EVP of Energy at L&T, said.
