LS Mills Ltd., Coimbatore, has successfully flagged off its export consignment to the United Kingdom under the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), marking another significant milestone in strengthening bilateral trade and showcasing the readiness of India’s textile sector to leverage new global market opportunities.
The shipment highlights the confidence of Indian textile exporters in utilising the preferential market access offered under the India–UK FTA. It also reflects the industry’s commitment to expanding its presence in the UK market by enhancing competitiveness and strengthening long-term trade partnerships.
Congratulating LS Mills on the achievement, Shri Vijay Agrawal, Chairman of TEXPROCIL, expressed appreciation to the Government of India, particularly the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Ministry of Textiles, and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), for their efforts in operationalising the landmark trade agreement.
He noted that the India–UK FTA is expected to provide a major boost to bilateral trade by improving the global competitiveness of Indian textile products, encouraging greater value addition, and creating new growth opportunities across the textile value chain.
Vijay Agrawal also congratulated the management and employees of LS Mills Ltd. for taking an early lead in leveraging the benefits of the FTA. He said the company’s initiative serves as an inspiration for the Indian textile industry and reinforces India’s position as a reliable global sourcing destination.
The India–UK FTA is expected to significantly enhance trade between the two countries by reducing market access barriers, promoting exports, and opening new avenues for Indian manufacturers across several sectors, with textiles being among the key beneficiaries.
