Maersk has announced seasonal adjustments to its Northern Star service, including a temporary blank sailing, as part of efforts to optimise capacity management and align operations with market demand.

The schedule change is part of the carrier’s ongoing network planning strategy to improve service efficiency and maintain reliable operations across its trade routes. Blank sailings are commonly used by shipping lines to balance vessel capacity during periods of changing demand and seasonal fluctuations.

Maersk said customers using the Northern Star service are advised to review updated sailing schedules and plan shipments accordingly. The company continues to adjust its network deployment to support supply chain reliability while responding to evolving market conditions.

The move reflects broader industry efforts by container carriers to manage capacity, improve operational performance, and maintain service flexibility amid changing global trade patterns.
