Magma Aviation has appointed Chapman Freeborn Greater China as its General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) for the Greater China market, strengthening the cargo specialist’s commercial presence in one of the world’s most important airfreight regions.
The agreement was signed on June 25, 2026, during Air Cargo China at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The appointment builds on the existing relationship between the two companies and provides a more structured framework for commercial cooperation across Greater China.
Under the new arrangement, Chapman Freeborn Greater China will support Magma Aviation’s sales and customer engagement activities throughout the region. The partnership combines Magma’s expertise in long-term and ad-hoc air cargo charter solutions with Chapman Freeborn’s local market knowledge and regional commercial network.
The expanded collaboration is expected to give customers across Greater China improved access to specialist air cargo solutions, greater commercial support and more responsive assistance for time-critical and customised shipments.
Magma Aviation CEO Peter Kerins said Greater China remains strategically important to the company and that appointing Chapman Freeborn Greater China as its GSSA would strengthen local customer relationships while supporting a more localised market approach.
Allen Liu, President of Chapman Freeborn Greater China, said the appointment represents an important step in the companies’ ongoing collaboration. He highlighted the combination of global air cargo capabilities and local market expertise as a way to provide customers with broader access to cargo solutions and responsive service.
Magma already operates scheduled Boeing 747-400F services involving China, with Chapman Freeborn Greater China having supported its commercial development and operational activities. The new GSSA agreement therefore expands an established working relationship rather than creating an entirely new partnership.
The appointment also strengthens the wider Chapman Freeborn Group’s role in Magma’s global commercial network. In Europe, Chapman Freeborn Cargo Capacity Management in Frankfurt serves as Magma Aviation’s General Sales Agent, creating additional alignment between the two major air cargo regions.
Greater China’s importance to international manufacturing and supply chains makes the region a key market for flexible airfreight capacity. The expanded partnership positions Magma Aviation to pursue additional charter opportunities while providing freight customers with more localised access to its specialist cargo services.
The move forms part of Magma Aviation’s broader strategy of expanding its commercial network through strategic partnerships and strengthening its position as a global provider of specialist air cargo solutions.
