Nagpur is strengthening its position as a key driver of India’s growing orange exports, with improved production, better post-harvest handling and expanding access to international markets boosting overseas shipments. The city’s renowned oranges continue to witness rising demand across regions including the Middle East, Southeast Asia and parts of Europe.

Government initiatives to improve quality standards, packaging, cold-chain infrastructure and export logistics have helped local growers and exporters expand their global reach. Enhanced traceability and compliance with international phytosanitary requirements have also supported market access.

The increase in exports is providing higher income opportunities for citrus farmers while reinforcing Nagpur’s reputation as India’s leading orange-producing region. Industry stakeholders expect export volumes to grow further as demand for premium-quality Indian citrus fruits continues to rise and logistics networks become more efficient.

The export momentum is also expected to contribute to India’s broader agricultural export strategy by diversifying overseas markets and strengthening the country’s presence in the global fresh fruit trade.
