New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has announced enhanced rebates on Vessel Related Charges (VRC) for container vessels, in a strategic move to attract more container traffic and strengthen the port’s competitiveness among India’s major maritime gateways.

Under the revised incentive structure, feeder line container vessels will be eligible for a 35% rebate, while mainline container vessels will receive a higher rebate of 50% on Vessel Related Charges.

The enhanced rebates will be effective from 3 November 2026 to 31 March 2027.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging greater participation from shipping lines, improving container vessel calls and attracting additional container volumes through New Mangalore Port.

By offering reduced vessel-related costs, NMPA seeks to enhance its appeal to both feeder and mainline operators while strengthening its position in the increasingly competitive Indian container port sector.

The move is expected to support the port’s efforts to expand its container handling business, improve connectivity and provide shipping lines with a more competitive operating environment.
