In November 2025, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully managed the transportation and unloading of a wide range of essential and non-essential commodities across its jurisdiction, ensuring uninterrupted supply to the northeastern states. Key items transported included FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, food grains, fertilizers, cement, coal, vegetables, automobiles, tankers, and other goods.

A significant portion of the freight was dedicated to meeting the requirements of the northeastern states. Assam led the region with 624 rakes unloaded, of which 324 carried essential commodities. Tripura accounted for 87 rakes, Nagaland 23, Arunachal Pradesh 8, Manipur 23, Meghalaya 1, and Mizoram 12.

Beyond the northeast, NFR also facilitated the movement of both essential and non-essential goods in West Bengal and Bihar, with 183 and 153 rakes unloaded respectively.

The continuous movement of essential commodities is crucial for meeting daily needs and sustaining regional economic activities. Effective monitoring at all levels helped reduce turnaround times and enhance overall unloading efficiency, reflecting NFR’s commitment to reliable and efficient freight operations.
