Nippon Express has signed a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) agreement with Nikon, marking another step in the logistics sector’s push to reduce carbon emissions from air freight operations.

Under the partnership, Nippon Express will utilize SAF credits linked to Nikon’s international air cargo shipments, helping lower the environmental impact of transporting precision equipment and imaging products across global markets.

The agreement supports both companies’ broader sustainability strategies, with Nikon aiming to decarbonize its supply chain while Nippon Express expands greener logistics solutions for corporate customers seeking lower-emission transport options.

SAF is increasingly being adopted across the air cargo industry as one of the most immediate pathways to cut lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional jet fuel, though availability and cost remain key challenges for wider adoption.
