Lufthansa Cargo is facing extended operational disruptions after Germany’s pilots’ union announced an additional two-day strike, stretching industrial action through April 17. The latest walkout adds pressure on freighter schedules and cargo handling across the carrier’s key hubs.
According to Lufthansa Cargo, restrictions will impact freighter operations on April 16 and 17, while bellyhold capacity from Lufthansa passenger flights departing Frankfurt and Munich remains heavily reduced due to widespread cancellations.
The airline said selected freighter services will continue to operate, but warned customers of shipment delays, limited cargo acceptance windows, and temporary transit embargoes on sensitive cargo categories such as perishables, live animals, emergency shipments, and temperature-controlled goods.
The strike stems from an ongoing dispute over pensions, pay, and working conditions between Lufthansa management and the Vereinigung Cockpit union, with both sides still deadlocked over arbitration terms.
