The Port of New York and New Jersey has reinforced its role as a leading US gateway in 2025, reporting significant growth in container throughput during the first half of the year.
According to newly released figures, the port processed 4,417,282 TEUs from January to June 2025 – a 4.9 per cent increase over the same period in 2024, and a substantial 20.9 per cent rise compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
In June alone, the Port of New York and New Jersey handled enough volume to secure its place as the second-busiest US facility for loaded containers, with a first-half loaded TEU total of 2,945,962.
Despite broad global uncertainty and supply chain disruption, the port’s robust year-on-year growth is a testament to both its operational resilience and the ongoing demand for East Coast cargo gateways.
In May alone, the port briefly claimed the national lead, moving 774,698 TEUs.
