The Odisha Maritime Board (OMB) reviewed the progress of key port, waterway and maritime infrastructure projects as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s coastal and inland maritime network.
The review covered ongoing and proposed projects aimed at improving port connectivity, waterway infrastructure and the movement of cargo through Odisha’s maritime routes. Officials assessed project progress and discussed measures to address implementation-related issues.
Odisha has been developing its maritime infrastructure to expand cargo-handling capacity, improve connectivity and promote greater use of waterways for freight movement. The state’s extensive coastline and network of rivers provide opportunities to strengthen both coastal and inland water transport.
The Board also reviewed initiatives related to port development and supporting infrastructure, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and creating stronger links between ports, industrial centres and logistics networks.
Better integration of ports and waterways is expected to support the movement of bulk and industrial cargo while providing exporters and businesses with additional logistics options.
The review forms part of Odisha’s broader efforts to expand its maritime economy and strengthen infrastructure to support future trade and logistics growth.
