Ocean Network Express (ONE) has issued an advisory informing customers about Egypt’s mandatory Unique Consignment Reference (UCR) requirement for cargo shipments, urging shippers and freight forwarders to ensure compliance before cargo is dispatched. The measure is intended to streamline customs procedures and improve shipment traceability.

Under the new requirement, all applicable export and import shipments destined for Egypt must include a valid UCR in the relevant shipping documentation. Failure to provide the required reference may result in customs delays, cargo holds or additional administrative charges.

ONE has advised customers to coordinate closely with exporters, freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure the UCR is accurately generated and submitted within the prescribed timelines. The carrier said timely compliance will help avoid disruptions in cargo clearance and maintain smooth supply chain operations.

The advisory reflects Egypt’s continued efforts to modernise its customs processes through enhanced digital documentation and improved cargo visibility. The UCR system is designed to facilitate faster customs clearance while strengthening regulatory oversight of international trade.

Customers shipping goods to Egypt have been encouraged to review the updated documentation requirements and incorporate the mandatory UCR into their shipping procedures to ensure uninterrupted cargo movement through Egyptian ports.
