Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) conducted its annual emergency drill at the central facilities of the Greek port, specifically at the Cruise Terminal, simulating a marine and land spillage incident.

The primary objective of the drill was to update knowledge and skills on the appropriate specialized experience of both the competent personnel of PPA and the port users, for the effective activation and implementation of the Marine and Land Pollution Spillage Response Plan.

Additionally, the equipment that is available and activated by case for responding to pollution incidents was presented during the drill, which was carried out in collaboration with the specialized contractor of PPA regarding the implementation of the plan “ANTIPOLLUTION ANE” Plan and in the presence of the Hellenic Coast Guard.

Su Xudong, CEO of PPA, expressed his gratitude to the employees for the successful execution of the drill. He emphasized that systematic preparation is critical for effectively managing emergencies, ensuring continuous readiness and an appropriate response. Su Xudong added that the development of the Port of Piraeus is rooted in principles of sustainability and environmental protection, with the ultimate goal of transforming it into a modern, competitive and environmentally friendly port that serves as a model for others.

Following the drill, a comprehensive evaluation report is prepared, to document outcomes, identify areas for improvement and ensure the highest level of operational readiness.
