Port Freeport has inaugurated a new Gate 12 at its Velasco Container Terminal, enhancing access and efficiency for cargo operations.

The additional gate is expected to streamline truck traffic, reduce congestion, and improve turnaround times for container movement. Officials said the development is part of the port’s ongoing infrastructure expansion to support rising container volumes and strengthen supply chain resilience.

Port Freeport has been positioning itself as a key logistics hub on the U.S. Gulf Coast, with investments in terminal upgrades, multimodal connectivity, and partnerships aimed at attracting more global trade flows.

“With Gate 12, we are adding much-needed capacity and improving service for our customers,” port leadership noted, highlighting that the facility will play a crucial role in handling future growth in containerized trade.
