The Montreal Port Authority has appointed Prakash R. Tulsiani as Senior Commercial Advisor representing the Port of Montreal in India, strengthening the Canadian gateway’s commercial presence in one of its key international markets.
Based in India, Tulsiani will focus on developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers and exporters. He will also work to raise awareness of the Port of Montreal among stakeholders across the Indian maritime, logistics and trade community.
The appointment comes as India continues to emerge as an increasingly important strategic market for the Port of Montreal. The port said its stronger presence on the ground in India will help Canadian and Quebec businesses diversify market opportunities, establish new trade connections and strengthen access to global markets.
India has long been one of the Port of Montreal’s leading trading partners and remains a growing market for the Canadian gateway. Trade between the two markets covers a range of commodities, with imports from India including food products, ceramics and plastics, while forest products and metals are among the commodities moving in the opposite direction.
The Port of Montreal said its presence in India will help businesses and industry stakeholders take greater advantage of opportunities arising from the evolving global trade environment, while supporting the diversification and resilience of international supply chains.
Tulsiani brings more than 45 years of experience working with multinational corporations and emerging companies. His professional background includes 16 years of experience in Southeast Asia, along with expertise spanning maritime transportation, logistics, infrastructure, and port and airport operations.
His extensive experience across Asian markets and international supply chains is expected to support the Port of Montreal’s efforts to deepen commercial relationships and identify new business opportunities in India.
Tulsiani’s appointment further strengthens the Port of Montreal’s international network of representatives and commercial advisors, which is already active across Europe, the United States and Asia. The port said the expanded network reflects its commitment to maintaining a presence in strategic markets, building long-term relationships with industry stakeholders and pursuing new business opportunities.
