The Pune International Airport, operated by AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services (AAICLAS), surpassed 100 metric tons (MT) of cargo movement in a single day on October 24, making it the first non-metro airport in the AAICLAS network to reach this benchmark.
The major commodities handled by PIA in cargo shipping include pharmaceuticals at 10 percent, automotive parts at 20 percent, perishables at 30 percent, followed by e-commerce at 20 percent and general cargo at 20 percent.
Airport director Santosh Dhoke expressed pride in this success, stating, “This is a proud moment for Pune airport, as it reflects the growing cargo potential of the region and our commitment to operational excellence. We are grateful to our partners and customers for their trust, and we look forward to continuing this momentum.”
According to Dhoke, the increase in cargo volume is due to the growing demand for air logistics from Pune’s manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries, which need timely deliveries to national and international markets.
Improvements in airport infrastructure and AAICLAS’s efforts have helped Pune airport become a cargo hub in western India.
According to the shared information, Pune airport plans to increase its cargo-handling capacity by expanding infrastructure and introducing new cargo management solutions to meet rising demand. These efforts aim to provide more efficient logistics services to businesses and support economic growth in the region.
Dhoke further said that this achievement by PIA also aligns with the government’s goals of improving logistics efficiency in the country and as time changes, AAICLAS Pune airport is expected to support various industries in India and abroad.
