Rhenus has urged UK importers and businesses to prepare for upcoming changes to the European Union’s customs rules for low-value parcels, warning that the new requirements could have significant implications for cross-border trade, customs compliance and delivery timelines.

According to the logistics provider, the revised EU framework is designed to strengthen customs oversight, improve tax collection and enhance transparency for low-value shipments entering the bloc. Businesses shipping goods to EU customers will need to review their customs documentation, data accuracy and compliance procedures to ensure a smooth transition.

Rhenus advised importers to work closely with customs brokers, logistics partners and supply chain teams to understand the new requirements and implement any necessary operational changes. Early preparation, including updating customs processes and digital systems, will help minimize the risk of shipment delays, additional costs and regulatory penalties.

The company noted that the reforms are expected to have a notable impact on e-commerce retailers and businesses that rely on frequent low-value parcel shipments to EU markets. By adapting to the new customs framework in advance, UK companies can maintain efficient cross-border operations and continue serving customers across Europe with minimal disruption.
