State-owned infrastructure company Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a contract worth ₹95.27 crore from NMDC Limited for railway track refurbishment works in Chhattisgarh.

The project involves the repair, strengthening, and modernization of railway track infrastructure used for the transportation of raw materials and minerals from NMDC’s mining operations. The upgrade is expected to improve operational efficiency and ensure safer and faster movement of freight trains.

Officials said the refurbishment work will focus on improving track quality and durability, which is critical for supporting heavy mineral freight traffic, particularly iron ore shipments from NMDC’s mines in the region.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen rail connectivity and logistics infrastructure for India’s mining sector. Improved rail networks play a key role in ensuring efficient evacuation of minerals from mining areas to steel plants and ports.

RVNL, a public sector enterprise under Indian Railways, has been actively involved in executing rail infrastructure projects across the country, including new railway lines, electrification, and capacity enhancement works. The latest contract further expands the company’s project portfolio in the mineral-rich central Indian region.
