Safexpress, one of India’s largest supply chain and logistics companies, has taken a major step towards sustainable freight movement by flagging off its first long-haul electric vehicle (EV) fleet on the Delhi–Jaipur route.

The deployment marks a significant shift in the company’s green logistics strategy, as EV adoption for intercity haulage has so far been limited to shorter routes. With this launch, Safexpress aims to demonstrate the viability of EVs for longer distances, reducing carbon emissions while maintaining efficiency in time-bound deliveries.

The company has partnered with EV manufacturers and charging infrastructure providers to ensure seamless operations on the 270-km stretch. Safexpress plans to gradually expand its EV operations to other long-haul routes across the country.

“This is a big leap for sustainable logistics in India. We are committed to building a future-ready supply chain that not only delivers speed and reliability but also minimizes environmental impact,” said a company spokesperson.

Industry experts see this as a milestone in the Indian logistics sector, setting the stage for wider adoption of EVs in intercity cargo transport.
