    Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) redefined its stature in India’s port landscape as India’s largest Container Port as it celebrated its 36th Foundation Day. The commemorative event was held in the presence of Union Cabinet Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal; Shantanu Thakur, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri T K Ramachandran.

    The event also witnessed the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the Vadhvan Port Skilling Program. The MoU was signed between Vadhavan Port Project Ltd. (VPPL) and Sahyadri Farms in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).

    The MoU aims to develop the skills of rural youth, farmers, and farm produce companies through targeted training. This collaboration seeks to strengthen the agri-logistics value chain and prepare local communities for emerging opportunities.

    These partnerships reflect JNPA’s vision of building Vadhvan Port as a modern, inclusive, and future-ready maritime gateway.

    The MoU was formally exchanged by Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairperson, JNPA & CMD, VPPL, and Vilas Shinde, Chairman & Managing Director, Sahyadri Farms, during the 36th Foundation Day of JNPA, in the august presence of Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister (Government of India).

    This collaboration aims to create impactful learning and livelihood opportunities by providing hands-on exposure in:

    • FPO stakeholder capacity building and Agri value chain development
    • Skill and entrepreneurship development programs for rural youth

    By investing in targeted Skill Development and Capacity Building Initiatives, the partnership seeks to enhance employability, promote rural entrepreneurship, and build a resilient, future-ready agricultural ecosystem.
