The SAX/SAECS/SRX container shipping service has added a northbound call at Port of Algeciras as part of efforts to strengthen network connectivity and improve cargo access across European trade routes.
Shipping industry sources said the revised rotation is expected to provide customers with enhanced routing flexibility, improved transshipment options, and more efficient connections between Europe, Africa, and other international markets served by the service. The addition of Algeciras, one of the Mediterranean’s key transshipment hubs, is also expected to support smoother cargo distribution and faster transit coordination.
The service update reflects ongoing adjustments by container carriers to optimise schedules, improve network reliability, and respond to evolving cargo demand patterns across global shipping lanes. Analysts noted that strategic port additions such as Algeciras can help carriers improve operational efficiency and strengthen regional supply chain connectivity
