Swire Shipping will revise its terminal handling charges for import and export containers moving through the US West Coast ports of Long Beach and Oakland, California, effective November 15, 2026.
The updated charges apply to all container types arriving at or departing from the two ports on or after the effective date. The revision covers both origin and destination terminal handling charges, identified by the carrier as TOC and TDC.
Under the revised fee structure, the charges will be:
- 20-foot standard containers: US$455
- 20-foot refrigerated and special containers: US$505
- 40-foot standard containers: US$700
- 40-foot refrigerated and special containers: US$750
The changes affect both importers and exporters using Swire Shipping services through the two California gateways. Shippers and freight forwarders will need to factor the revised fees into their transportation budgets and landed-cost calculations for shipments subject to the new rates.
Long Beach and Oakland are important gateways for international cargo moving through the US West Coast. Changes to terminal handling charges can influence overall shipping costs, particularly for businesses managing regular container movements and time-sensitive deliveries.
Swire Shipping said the revision follows a review of the costs associated with providing its services. Customers have been advised to contact their local company representatives for further information.
The updated charges form part of the carrier’s local pricing adjustments and highlight the importance of monitoring terminal fees alongside ocean freight rates and other shipment-related costs.
