    The India International Rice Summit 2025 held in Raipur

    The Rice Exporters Association CG (TRECG) with the support of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) – a statutory body established by Govt. of India under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) – a Government of Chhattisgarh undertaking, organized a Two Day conference & expo on export promotion of non-Basmati rice from India esp. the central India & Chhattisgarh state; at Maira Resort and Convention Centre, RAIPUR (Chhattisgarh) during 10-11 January 2025.

    The two-day conference brought together leading exporters & global buyers of non-Basmati
    rice, policymakers, scholars, researchers, stakeholders from ports – shipping – logistics – bag manufacturing – hygiene services – labs & testing equipment – certification & survey agencies, banking & finance, insurance & other stakeholders in associated industries to discuss the emerging scenario and other performance impacting factors in non-Basmati rice export from India. The conference had theme sessions covering productivity & variety of non-Basmati rice, challenges & innovations in sea freight logistics, port level challenges, enhancing serial connectivity, Govt. policies and the way forward, overcoming global supply chain challenges, advancement in warehousing & logistics, global non-basmati rice demand trends & India’s strategic role, GST/ RoDTEP/ interest subsidy impact, recent advancement in banking service, trade risk mitigation insurance solutions and global market projection for non-Basmati rice. The conference deliberated upon how in more robust ways performance and impact of government programs can be captured and the critical inputs that can strengthen these initiatives.

    Addressing the conference, Chief Guest Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce
    and Industry, Govt. of India thanked the organizers for hosting the event at this important
    moment when restrictions on the free export of rice have been removed by GoI, the expectation of good Kharif crop of paddy and good global demand. Hon’ble Minister further said that the industry should focus on growth and felt the need for Govt.- industry consultative & collaborative efforts in export promotion of non-Basmati rice. Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Chhattisgarh highlighted Mandi tax reduction to zero level on export of rice from Chhattisgarh state and assured the exporters that the State will continue to follow policies towards promotion of exports from Chhattisgarh state. Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmer’s welfare, Govt. of Chhattisgarh stressed upon expeditious implementation of the reduction in Mandi tax to zero as an example of industry & exports friendly approach of the present state Govt.

    Shri Abhishek Dev, IAS, Chairman, APEDA highlighted the need for more such events
    across India and assured the industry of APEDA’s continued support in furthering the growth of non-Basmati rice from India. Shri Dev, while elaborating on brand promotion efforts by APEDA globally, highlighted the need to promote value addition towards increased value realization and also offered support in the global promotion of certain identified varieties in non-Basmati rice baskets.

    Earlier Shi Amitabh Jain, IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Chhattisgarh in his inaugural speech on 10th January 2025 thanked rice exporters of Chhattisgarh for placing the state prominently on the global rice map and assured the industry of state Govt. support. Shri Rajat Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Commerce & Industry, Govt. of Chhattisgarh invited the rice industry to take advantage of industry friend industrial policy recently unveiled by the state Govt. Shri Prabhat Malik, IAS, Export Commissioner, Govt. of Chhattisgarh assured rice exporters of the state Govt.’s support in expeditious easing of pain points through four-pronged approaches adopted by State Govt.

    The conference was attended by more than 300 participants with leading experts from India and abroad speaking at different sessions of the conference.
