Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) is set to strengthen its logistics infrastructure with a proposed multimodal logistics hub featuring a dry port, aimed at improving cargo handling, connectivity and trade facilitation in Tamil Nadu.

The proposed facility is expected to support the movement of goods by integrating different modes of transport and providing logistics services such as cargo consolidation, storage and container handling. A dry port could also offer facilities for customs clearance and other export-import operations, subject to the project’s final plans and approvals.

The development could benefit manufacturers, exporters, importers and logistics operators in Trichy and neighbouring industrial areas by improving access to domestic and international supply chains.

Trichy’s strategic location in central Tamil Nadu gives it potential to serve as a logistics gateway for regional industries and agricultural producers. Improved multimodal connectivity could help businesses move cargo more efficiently towards major seaports and other consumption centres.

The proposed hub could also encourage investment in warehousing, freight forwarding, container transportation and related logistics services, creating opportunities for local businesses.

If implemented effectively, the project would strengthen Tamil Nadu’s logistics network, support regional economic activity and improve the competitiveness of businesses engaged in domestic trade and international exports.
