Grimaldi Group’s Ro-Ro vessel Grande Shanghai has achieved a significant milestone at Mumbai Port by delivering one of the largest single-shipper consignments of electric vehicle (EV) truck chassis ever handled at the port.
The vessel berthed at OCT-2, operated by ICTPL, after arriving from China with 876 EV truck chassis. The shipment comprised approximately 53,800 cubic metres (CBM) of cargo, weighing 8,727 metric tonnes, setting a new benchmark for a single shipment of EV truck chassis handled at Mumbai Port.
The port call was managed by Oasis Shipping Private Limited, a Samsara Group company, acting as agents for Grimaldi Group through Grimaldi India Shipping Agency Pvt. Ltd.
Grimaldi Group has maintained regular monthly calls at Mumbai Port since 2025 under its Europe–Asia service. Despite recent disruptions to global shipping routes caused by geopolitical tensions, the company has strengthened its network by introducing westbound services connecting China with India and onward to Africa, Europe, Australia and South America.
The company further reinforced its presence in India by establishing Grimaldi India Shipping Agency in 2026, reflecting its long-term commitment to the country’s shipping and logistics sector.
Grimaldi has also expanded its China–Africa service to provide Pan-India port coverage, with the latest call in Mumbai highlighting the company’s growing focus on the Indian market. The company plans to increase the frequency of vessel calls across its service network to support rising trade demand.
The arrival of Grande Shanghai, one of Grimaldi Group’s environmentally advanced Ro-Ro vessels, also underscores the company’s focus on sustainable shipping. The transportation of a large consignment of EV truck chassis supports India’s transition towards cleaner mobility and strengthens the country’s position as a key hub for global automotive logistics.
The record shipment marks another milestone in Grimaldi Group’s expanding operations in India, reflecting the growing importance of the country in international vehicle logistics and sustainable maritime transport.
