    U. Subba Rao has assumed charge as the General Manager of Southern Railway, taking over the leadership of one of Indian Railways’ largest and busiest zones. His appointment marks a new phase for the zone as it continues to focus on operational efficiency, passenger services, and infrastructure development.

    A senior Indian Railway officer with extensive experience across various operational and administrative roles, Subba Rao is expected to drive initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, improving punctuality, modernizing railway infrastructure, and accelerating capacity expansion across the Southern Railway network.

    Under his leadership, Southern Railway is likely to continue prioritizing station redevelopment, freight growth, digital transformation, and the adoption of advanced technologies to improve customer experience and operational performance.
