Uttar Pradesh’s leather industry has recorded a significant milestone, with exports crossing Rs 7,000 crore, reflecting steady growth in one of the state’s key manufacturing sectors. The achievement highlights the industry’s resilience and growing demand for leather products in international markets.

The export growth has been supported by improved infrastructure, enhanced manufacturing capabilities, and initiatives aimed at strengthening the leather ecosystem. Major leather manufacturing hubs, including Kanpur, Unnao, Agra, and Noida, have played a crucial role in driving exports through increased production and improved quality standards.

Industry representatives attribute the positive trend to better market access, modernization of production facilities, and the adoption of sustainable manufacturing practices. The sector has also witnessed rising demand for finished leather goods, footwear, and accessories from key export destinations.

The leather industry remains one of Uttar Pradesh’s largest employment generators, providing livelihoods to thousands of skilled workers and artisans. Experts believe continued investments in technology, skill development, and environmental compliance will further enhance the state’s competitiveness in the global leather market.

Officials expressed confidence that the momentum will continue, with efforts focused on expanding exports, attracting new investments, and strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s position as a leading leather manufacturing and export hub in India.
