    Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India, held a productive discussion in New Delhi with Kerala CM Shri VD Satheesan on advancing the state’s coastal infrastructure, inland waterways, and shipbuilding capabilities.

    The meeting focused on strengthening Kerala’s role in India’s maritime growth through enhanced port-led development, modern waterway connectivity, and expansion of shipbuilding potential.

    Emphasising the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Shri Sonowal stated that Kerala remains central to India’s maritime future due to its strategic coastline, strong maritime ecosystem, and growing logistics potential.

    The discussions also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the Centre and the State to accelerate sustainable maritime infrastructure and boost economic opportunities linked to the blue economy.
