V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has recorded a 12.10% growth in coal cargo handling during April–January of FY 2025–26, compared to the corresponding period of FY 2024–25, underscoring the port’s strong operational momentum.

The sustained rise in coal volumes reflects the port’s robust operational performance, driven by efficient cargo handling systems, streamlined processes, and improved vessel turnaround times. Enhanced coordination with stakeholders and optimal utilisation of infrastructure have further contributed to the positive performance.

Officials noted that the consistent growth highlights the port’s critical role in supporting energy supply chains and meeting the increasing demand from power and industrial sectors in the region.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port continues to focus on capacity enhancement, process optimisation, and service reliability, reinforcing its position as a key maritime gateway on India’s east coast.
