The Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility at V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port, commissioned in April 2025, has rapidly emerged as a key driver of export growth for the region.

Between April and September 2025, the port handled 14,036 TEUs of export containers through the DPE system. This accounts for 7.99% of the total export-laden volume of 1,75,750 TEUs handled during the same period, reflecting strong support from the trade sector.

The facility provides direct connectivity to the container terminal, enabling faster cargo movement, reducing dwell time, and lowering logistics costs for customers in the hinterland.

Port authorities noted that the DPE system is playing a vital role in enhancing efficiency and competitiveness for exporters, further strengthening VOC Port’s position as a gateway for international trade.
