Liner operator X-Press Feeders is accelerating its fleet renewal programme with a series of neopanamax newbuilds in China.
The Singapore-based carrier has returned to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for six methanol-ready and scrubber-fitted 11,000 teu ships scheduled for delivery between the third quarter of 2027 and the fourth quarter of 2028.
The newbuildings are so far the largest containerships ordered by X-Press Feeders and are expected to be deployed on the company’s core trade routes, with details to be announced prior to their delivery.
This is the second time this year that X-Press Feeders has ordered 11,000 teu container ships at the CSSC-affiliated, having signed up for four units in late May. Multiple shipbroking sources have estimated that the latest newbuilds will cost $130m each, totalling $780m.
