Nagpur is set for a major employment boost with the launch of the XSIO Industrial & Logistics Park at Wadhgaon along the Samruddhi Mahamarg, a project expected to create more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. Backed by a ₹5,127-crore investment agreement between XSIO Industry, Blackstone and the Maharashtra industries department, the project entered its construction phase on Saturday.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the development would accelerate Nagpur’s rise as a national logistics hub. “The government is committed to providing world-class facilities so industries can move goods efficiently and at lower costs. With XSIO, Nagpur will gain new momentum in becoming the logistics hub of the country,” he said.

Fadnavis highlighted that the project aligns with Maharashtra’s logistics policy focused on reducing freight costs and strengthening industrial corridors. The first phase has an outlay of ₹700 crore, while the newly launched second phase covers 105 acres with an investment of ₹1,100 crore.

He added that Nagpur’s historic Zero Mile position had regained importance due to expanding high-speed connectivity networks. “The Samruddhi Mahamarg has given a decisive boost to the industrial movement,” the Chief Minister noted.

Fadnavis also said the state was integrating logistics infrastructure with emerging technologies. “We are combining logistics with blockchain to introduce positive transformation in this sector,” he added.

Industries secretary P. Anbalagan, MLAs Sameer Meghe and Ashish Deshmukh, XSIO managing director Ashish Agrawal and Blackstone India’s Tuhin Parekh were present at the ceremony. Agrawal and Parekh said the park would catalyse warehousing, ancillary manufacturing and a broader supply-chain ecosystem around Nagpur.

Officials indicated that job generation could increase as the park expands in subsequent phases, with the XSIO–Blackstone partnership emerging as one of Maharashtra’s most significant private investors in logistics infrastructure.
