State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to establish a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing India’s maritime infrastructure and energy supply chain.
The agreement was signed by Manoj Heda, Executive Director, International Trade and Risk Management, BPCL, and Atul Ubale, Director, Bulk Carrier and Tankers Division, SCI, in the presence of Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta, Director – Finance, BPCL, and Dinesh Kutty, DGM In-Charge, Tanker Commercial, SCI.
The partnership is part of BPCL’s efforts to create a dedicated maritime infrastructure to support India’s growing energy needs. The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which focuses on enhancing the country’s maritime capabilities.

The MoU aims to improve operational efficiency, develop a dedicated shipping network for transporting crude oil, gas, and petroleum products, and ensure a secure and resilient energy supply chain. Both BPCL and SCI will explore opportunities to enhance India’s maritime strength and establish a reliable energy transportation network.
