Almost a month after a shipping container floated to the Gujarat coast in Gir-Somnath district on July 11, residents of two Kutch villages on Sunday and Monday spotted two such containers bobbing on the waves.

While one container was spotted on the coastline near Kamand village on Sunday, another was spotted in the sea just off Dhuvai village on Monday. Both villages are just 20 km apart and located in Abdasa taluka in western Kutch.

The police informed the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Customs Department about the container. However, no official has been able to check the containers as they were still out at sea on Monday evening, confirmed officials at Kothara police station, which holds jurisdiction over both villages.

In July, a similar container had washed up on the beach in Lati village of Sutrapada taluka of Gir-Somnath. Details found on the container had stated that it was en route from Hong Kong in China to Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It contained a consignment of air pressure tanks.
