The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), Tuticorin, has achieved a remarkable milestone in operational efficiency, recording the lowest container turnaround time of just 19.92 hours. This achievement reflects the port’s continued focus on productivity, technology adoption, and streamlined logistics operations.

During the current fiscal period, the port has handled 4,78,144 TEUs, marking a robust year-on-year growth of 8.48%. The performance underscores VOCPA’s growing importance as a major gateway for containerized trade in southern India.

The enhanced operational performance is driven by improved berth productivity, with over 30 moves per hour, supported by congestion-free gate operations and digital initiatives ensuring faster cargo movement.

Commenting on the achievement, a senior port official noted that these results demonstrate the port’s commitment to maintaining global service standards while fostering trade growth in the region. Continuous infrastructure upgrades, deployment of advanced handling equipment, and close coordination with shipping lines, terminal operators, and customs authorities have contributed significantly to this milestone.

With this record, V.O. Chidambaranar Port continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s most efficient container-handling ports, reinforcing its role in supporting the nation’s maritime trade ambitions under the Maritime India Vision 2030.
