The Dadri-Greater Noida-Jewar belt is set to become one of north India’s biggest logistics hubs.
A massive multi-modal logistics hub (MMLH) in Dadri, a new air cargo complex coming up at Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar and a series of logistics parks and industrial townships taking shape — all these are poised for transforming the region.
Together, these projects — worth Rs 5,881 crore — are creating a rare “rail–road–air” logistics triangle that officials say could transform western UP into a major freight gateway for the country. The development will take place in three phases.
The project has been planned to be developed through a public–private partnership (PPP) on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer model. The special purpose vehicle behind the project — DMIC Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida Limited (DMIC IITGNL) — has already floated a global tender.
The logistics hub is planned over 311 hectares, and when fully operational, it is expected to handle 1.44 million TEUs (twentyfoot equivalent units) of container traffic and nearly 7.9 million tonnes of bulk cargo every year.
The Dadri MMLH will offer modern warehouses, cold storage, bonded facilities, container repair zones, packaging and labelling units and office spaces for logistics operators — all within one ecosystem.
A techno-feasibility study for the Dadri MMLH — one of the flagship projects under Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) — highlights why the location is considered a prize.
The hub sits at the junction of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). It allows long-haul, double-stack container trains and high-axle-load freight rakes to move seamlessly between the two corridors.
